The Debenham Archive

This archive is maintained by the Debenham History Society and contains an indexed, searchable catalogue of documents, photos, audio and video clips, and artefacts.

It also contains an interactive version of the 1837 Tithe Map, showing landowners, occupiers and field names.

During the COVID-19 lockdown we scanned and transcribed 18,015 record cards created by Rae Potter which detail baptisms, marriages and burials from 1559 to 1900. The original records can be viewed at The Hold in Ipswich

The Debenham History Society

As well as maintaining this archive, the Debenham History Society meets monthly for talks on a wide variety of historical topics that are relevant to Debenham and the local area. Additional special events are held throughout the year.
